Be the Change is the Fairtrade Fortnight 2024 message that will mark this year's event, starting on Monday 9th September and ending Sunday 22nd September.
So, this begs the question, what can I do for Fairtrade Fortnight 2024?

Reach out to your MP
- Join us in asking your MP to step up and stand with Fairtrade farmers, and supporters like you, who are leading the way in building a fairer future. Write to your MP to ask them to take the Be the Change pledge: When Fairtrade Fortnight 2024 begins, Fairtrade themselves will launch a quick and easy tool you can use to ask your MP to stand with Fairtrade farmers.
Be the Change event
- If you have time, run a Be the Change event during Fairtrade Fortnight and invite your local MP. Each year, Fairtrade events bring communities together to speak up for fairer trade, share stories and teachings that MPs should be keen to join in on, shortly after being elected in your constituency. Why not organise a Be the Change breakfast, brunch or lunch made of Fairtrade treats
Shop fairer
- Consume consciously in food stores such as Your Co-op food and look for the Fairtrade label on our products and produce, and why not apply this to your electronics too? Why make your mark and choose Fairtrade?
Numerous cultivators and manufacturers of our favourite food and beverages are at the tail end of extensive supply chains and their voices can be lost when raising concerns regarding pricing, wages, or fresh legislation and rules that impact their livelihood.
Farmers, workers, and their families are being driven to the edge due to the difficulties of climate change, coupled with the lack of equitable wages and enduring trade relationships. They often find themselves in a position where they must make tough choices between necessities such as healthcare, their children's schooling, and quality food.
Fairtrade works with farming co-operatives, businesses and governments to make trade fairer and after 30 years it's safe to say it's made a world of difference to many communities. Switching to Fairtrade products ensures farmers and workers receive equitable earnings, provides greater protection of food sources, and aids in the preservation of our planet.
In the first 30 years of Fairtrade, sales meant over £1.7 billion in Fairtrade Premium, but if there was more political action, we could end inequalities in food and supply chains.
