Wi-Fi Calling is here: How to set up and use it

Wi-Fi Calling is a feature where your SIM lets you make/receive calls and texts using Wi-Fi alone. This will allow you to stay better connected and use your phone as normal, even when you have no network coverage. As long as you have a steady Wi-Fi connection you can expect calls and texts to function as usual.

iPhone

To enable for iPhone (for SE 2nd Gen, 11 and newer models since) please follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Phone.

3. Wi-Fi Calling and enable the "Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone" using the slider.

Android

To enable for Android, the exact phrasing in settings may differ slightly but the steps will remain the same. To enable:

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap on Connections.

3. Wi-Fi Calling and enable using the slider.

Benefits of Wi-Fi Calling

Once you have enabled Wi-Fi calling on your smartphone, it will automatically kick in when your cellular service is poor or unavailable. However, when you move out of the Wi-Fi coverage area, calls and texts will switch back to the cellular network. All this happens smoothly, and you shouldn't experience any dropped calls or other issues due to the switch taking place.

Wi-Fi Calling can also be beneficial if you live or work in an area with poor outdoor or indoor cellular service but have a Wi-Fi connection. Additionally, this feature doesn't consume high amounts of data, a typical voice call is around 1MB per minute, so you don't have to worry about data charges.

What Does Wi-Fi Calling Require?

  1. Working Wi-Fi connection.
  2. Compatible smartphone (check the phone's settings to enable).
  3. A carrier such as Your Co-op Mobile that supports Wi-Fi calling.

Does Wi-Fi Calling cost money?

There are no extra charges to customers as this is a free-to-use feature as part of your SIM service. If you are making a call or texting over Wi-Fi, it will contribute as normal to your allocated minutes and texts per month as cellular use would.

Will I need a new SIM for Wi-Fi Calling to work?

No, as long as you have one of our triformat SIMs which are 4G and 5G enabled you can use this feature on any compatible smartphone.
