The portal Techradar has reviewed Fairphone 3 and the verdict is especially positive - 'a 5-star superstar in terms of repairability, longevity and the way it has been put together (from the way minerals are mined to the assembly line working conditions)'. Overall, they assessed that Fairphone isn’t a phone that aims to provide the highest specs or performance, but you’ll find all the smartphone basics plus the remarkable idea behind the project.

Fairphone 3 is a ethical smartphone, that allows you repair the phone yourself in case any of the parts stop working. It comes with a small screwdriver and a complete guide that will show you how to upgrade or repair it. If you’d like to have a closer look at the phone, please review our videos. Fairphone aims to change the industry, sourcing as many materials as possible in both human and environmentally kind ways.

Also, Fairphone 3 received the highest score for repairability as most of the inside modules are individually replaceable. Fairphone was the first smartphone that Ifixit ever rated with a 10 out of 10 repairability score.

The Guardian chose Fairphone 3 as ‘the best ethical alternative’ and one of the top 5 mobile phones, pointing that “Fairphone isn’t just another smartphone: it’s entirely different way of thinking about how a phone and its creation fits into the world”.

Why you should choose The Phone Co-op when buying Fairphone 3?

At The Phone Co-op we are proud to be partners with Fairphone and we can offer this world leading handset with a variety of mobile deals – all with inclusive unlimited texts and minutes and a choice of data.

Impeccable ethical credentials

But where the Fairphone 3 really stands out is Fairphone’s commitment to reduce waste, treat workers fairly and help protect the planet.

As Fairphone’s CEO Eva Gouwens says, “I don’t need the best phone in the world; I want the best of the world in my phone”.

The phone’s modular construction means it’s fully repairable, lasting much longer than many other smartphones – so reducing polluting e-waste. That’s reflected in the fact that it comes with five years’ support, including spare and replacement parts.

As a certified B-Corp organisation, Fairphone is committed to worker rights. The company partners with producers, labour rights experts and NGOs to improve working conditions in the heart of the electronics sector, including health and safety, worker representation, healthy working hours and worker welfare projects.

In addition, it’s the first in the sector to use Fairtrade-certified gold, helping to make Fairphone the world’s most ethical and sustainable mobile phone manufacturer.
